— A 32-year-old woman from Cayce has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting March 15 in Richland County, Sheriff Leon Lott said Thursday.

Following a tip phoned in to authorities, Arrington Ariel Ashford was arrested at her home on Felder Street in Cayce.

Ashford is accused of shooting an unnamed 20-year-old male who was trying to break-up a fight she was having with another person, Lott said. The victim, who was shot several times in the upper body, remains in the trauma unit of Palmetto Richland Hospital in stable condition.

Richland County authorities are still investigating the incident and although all parties have been identified, anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, text CRIMES (274637) and mark the beginning of the message with “TIPSC” followed by the tip information, or log onto www.midlandscrimestoppers.com and click on the red “Submit a tip” tab.
