Thursday letters: Keep education goals simple

March 27, 2014

— I spent most of my life as a teacher and administrator with the military-dependents’ schools. I now have grandchildren in S.C. schools and want to share two valuable insights. The only guiding educational philosophies we need are equal opportunity for all and the importance of our American free-enterprise system.

These are only goals, as our country is full of anti-competitive educators. If every educational decision made is tested against these two goals, we will gradually move toward leading other states in quality education.
