Lexington police officer dies after battle with cancer

An officer with the Lexington Police Department died Saturday after a four-year battle with cancer.

Inspector Art Rish was an 11-year veteran with the department, according to a news release.

Rish began his career as a road officer and was promoted to inspector in April of 2010.

Rish was the Department’s Overall Employee of the year in 2013.

“This was a culmination of his continued work ethic despite his ongoing health battle,” the release stated.

Visitation will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 30. The funeral will be held at Red Bank Baptist Church on March 31 at 11 a.m.
