Thomas Richland Armstrong

— A 53-year-old Mountville man faces multiple charges after items were stolen near Chapin.

Thomas Richland Armstrong, of West Crawford Place, was arrested on Thursday and charged with grand larceny, receiving stolen goods, giving false information to a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and simple possession of marijuana. He was released Tuesday after posting bail of $9,312.

According to a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department press release, he is charged in connection to a pop-up camper trailer stolen shortly before midnight on March 25 from a storage facility on Wessinger Road near Chapin. The trailer was worth about $6,500. It was found parks at a home where he was staying in Chapin.

Armstrong is also charged with possessing a suitcase with 25 pairs of sunglasses and cases that had been reported stolen from an eye care center in Chapin.

The release said Armstrong provided deputies with a false name and false date of birth because he was wanted on two arrest warrants from the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.

Deputies found that Armstrong had one marijuana cigarette on his person and deputies found a clear bag that contained marijuana in a second trailer.
