Temperatures rising, so are gas prices

— Spring has brought its traditional warmer temperatures, pollen onslaught and higher gas prices.

The cost of a regular gallon of unleaded gasoline in the Columbia metropolitan area is up 5 cents in the past week and 15 cents in the past month, according to AAA.

A regular gallon of gasoline cost $3.31 on Friday.

The good news? It's the cheapest of any metropolitan area in the state, where gas is averaging $3.33 overall.

And it's still down 9 cents from a year ago and 90 cents down from the all-time record on Sept. 15, 2008.
