RICHLAND COUNTY — Two men were arrested this week by Richland County deputies investigating a string of home break-ins.
James Edward Burgess, 38, is charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of petit larceny. He was arrested Tuesday at the Executive Inn on Harbor Drive in West Columbia.
Charles Stacey Senn, 45, is charged with burglary and petit larceny. He was arrested Wednesday at the Country Heart Inn in West Columbia.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said citizens provided information that helped identify them as suspects and locate them.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the men for two break-ins at newly constructed homes. In late March, a range and a microwave valued at $1,050 were stolen from a home on Glenwood Springs Court in Columbia. And in December, a General Electric stainless steel electic flat-top range worth $450 was stolen from a home on Clover View Drive in Chapin. An additional $3,000 in damage was caused to the home’s hardwood floor.
Lott in a press release suggested additional charged may come with investigations by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Columbia Police Department.
