USC women claim PING ASU Invitational crown

The No. 7 South Carolina women’s golf team finished with an 11-under 853, a new program record, at the PING ASU Invitational to claim first place. The Gamecocks shot a 3-under 285 in Sunday’s final round at the ASU Karsten Golf Course. This is the Gamecocks’ second title of the season.

USC men fall to MSU

No. 40 South Carolina rallied late but could not overcome its early deficit to No. 16 Mississippi State, falling 4-1 to the Bulldogs at Carolina Tennis Center. The Gamecocks fell to 12-11 overall and 4-6 in the SEC. ...

At Clemson, Hunter Harrington upset the 19th-ranked player in the nation in three sets to clinch No. 17 Clemson’s 5-2 victory over No. 38 Virginia Tech. The Tigers improve to 18-5 overall, 5-3 in the ACC. ... At Charlottesville, Va, the 15th-ranked Clemson women fell 5-2 to No. 9 Virginia. Clemson drops to 17-4 overall and 9-1 in the ACC. The loss ends the Tigers’ winning streak at 10 and is their first loss since Feb. 21.

Georgia State tops Gamecocks

At Mount Pleasant, USC closed out play at the College of Charleston Sand Classic with a 4-1 loss to No. 8 Georgia State at Creekside Tennis and Swim Club. The Gamecocks (4-12) picked up their lone point in the No. 5 pairs match.
