Monday letters: Father loved sharing opinion

April 7, 2014

— On March 17, I held my father’s right hand as he took his last breath. The hand that penned so many letters, notes and poems.

One of the many things I will miss about my father, J. Aubrey Parrot, is his ability to communicate his opinion and willingness to share it with the readers of this paper. He had many who agreed and a few who disagreed with his opinion. One of the best lessons I learned from him was simply to do the right thing, always. He believed in human rights and dignity, and was a proponent of peace.

He enjoyed reading The State, especially the Sports section, daily.
