It's decision day for Fruhmorgen

April 10, 2014

OL Jake Fruhmorgen will make his college proclamation Thursday afternoon at 3:15 at a ceremony at Plant High School in Tampa. He narrowed his decision to Clemson and Florida from nearly 30 offers which included Alabama (father's alma mater), Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, Notre Dame, California, Ohio State and Ole Miss.

Fruhmorgen was offered early by Clemson and that put the Tigers in a command position. They helped themselves immensely thru a pair of visits by Fruhmorgen and family members this spring rolling out the red carpet, according to his father, for their March trip.

Clemson has attempted to sell the Fruhmorgen's on their need at offensive tackle. The Tigers have four senior offensive tackles in the next two classes not including Gifford Timothy, who would have been a senior this season but retired due to recurring knee injuries. The Tigers have also enticed Fruhmorgen with the idea of playing opposite another highly rated tackle committed to them in Mitch Hyatt.

Of course, proximity works in Florida's favor and he has visited there a couple of times. Gators coach Will Muschamp also talked with Fruhmorgen earlier this week.
