Clemson picked up a commitment Saturday from Greenwood resident Kaleb Chalmers and appears likely Tuesday to land a commitment from another Greenwood native in Emerald DL Gage Cervenka. Cervenka was at Clemson's spring game Saturday and will return to the campus Tuesday morning with his parents.
"I got there a little late because of the ACT," Cervenka said. "I talked to coach Reed and coach Swinney talked to the whole group. I was impressed with their defense, they looked pretty good."
Cervenka has long been a Clemson fan and with an offer from the Tigers could have joined Chalmers with a pledge Saturday. But he chose to hold off, for now.
"I love the place," he said. "I'm going back up there Tuesday. Something could happen. It will be my first time to see the academic side of things."
Cervenka recently added offers from Miami and Virginia Tech. He also has offers from NC State, Wake Forest and Duke.
Cervenka is also a state champion wrestler.
