Sunday letters: Ballpark a waste of public money

April 13, 2014

— I was hoping for a miracle that never happened, because four members of Columbia City Council voted to build that baseball stadium on Bull Street. Imagine: Four people voted to spend millions of dollars of your tax money to build a baseball park. Sure, if you build it, they will come; that’s the stuff dreams are made of.

The only positive note is that Mayor Steve Benjamin dropped a proposed $2 million add-on for other things. Thank goodness for that. Really, does the art museum need a half-million-dollars for a new entrance and other improvements? Lordy, lordy.
