COLUMBIA, SC — Two pedestrians were struck and killed by cars late Saturday night and early Sunday morning in Richland and Lexington counties, the S.C. Highway Patrol reported.
A woman was killed by a car that left the scene on Leesburg Road in Hopkins shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities expect to release a description of the car later Sunday. The name of the woman was not released.
Another pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Honda at 1:20 a.m. Sunday on S.C. 302 near Creekside Road across from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport in West Columbia.
The driver will not be charged because the pedestrian was walking in the road illegally, the Highway Patrol said.
The pedestrian was identified as La Martz Brown, 23, of Cayce, according to Lexington County Chief Deputy Coroner Randy Martin.
