Toy gun used to rob Irmo payday lender, 2 suspects sought

April 16, 2014

— Irmo police hope the public can help find a man and a woman who held up a Broad River Road payday lending business on Wednesday afternoon.

The two suspects entered Check into Cash at 7949 Broad River Road around 1 p.m. brandishing what appeared to be a gun at the employee and demanded money, Irmo police chief Brian Buck said in a news release. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, they fled in a white four-door Honda Accord missing the rear license plate, Buck said.

The suspects covered their faces with bandannas but otherwise were described as a thin black male about 5-feet 6-inches tall who was dressed head-to-toe, except for the multi-colored bandanna, in black, and a heavy-set black woman about 5-feet 4-inches wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and black and pink sneakers.

Anyone with information about this incident or the identity and location of the suspects is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, text CRIMES (274637) and mark the beginning of the message with “TIPSC” followed by the tip information, or log onto www.midlandscrimestoppers.com and click on the red “Submit a tip” tab.
