An announcement on the baseball tournaments future sites could come at the leagues spring meetings May 12-15 in Amelia Island, Fla. The four tournaments, beginning with 2015, are up for bid, and could be divided among the bidders.
Like Charlotte, the other cities have minor league stadiums located downtown. The tournament has alternated between Durham and Greensboro since 2009 and will be held in Greensboros NewBridge Bank Park on May 20-25.
ACC officials recently made a site visit to the Charlotte Knights new BB&T BallPark.
The tournament has been played in the Charlotte area before, with Knights Stadium in Fort Millhosting the event in 2000 and 01.
"BB&T BallPark is a great venue and the Knights have really been excellent to work with," said Will Webb, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, which put together Charlottes bid.
