Columbia man charged in violent April 13 home invasion

— Nathaniel “Nate” Antron Hunter, 31, of Columbia, was charged in a particularly brutal home invasion at the Park Place Apartments on Comanchee Trail in West Columbia April 13, West Columbia police chief Dennis Tyndall said in a release.

Hunter is accused of sneaking into the apartment of a woman and her six-year-old daughter through the sliding glass door. Once inside, he tried to sexually assault the woman and her daughter. When the mother fought her attacker, he shot her multiple times and fled the apartment, police said.

Hunter has been charged with attempted murder, 2 counts of kidnapping, burglary, criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime.

He’s being held at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
