Soccer: Irmo sweeps Spring Valley

April 23, 2014

Irmo kept pace with Blythewood atop the Region 4-4A girls soccer standings with a 2-0 win over Spring Valley.

The surging Yellow Jackets (9-7-1, 5-1) have won four in a row and are 8-1-1 after stumbling out the starting gate with six losses in their first seven outings. Irmo is looking forward to the rematch with the Bengals on April 20. Blythewood was a 2-1 winner in the initial clash on March 18.

Julia Lambill did all the scoring against Spring Valley, which fell two games off the pace in the loss column.

Irmo’s boys team (15-3-1) maintained a share of the 4-4A lead with Blythewood thanks to a 2-1 shootout win.

Preston Graczyk scored the Yellow Jackets regulation goal off an assist by Caleb Jenkins. The Jackets emerged the winner with a 4-2 advantage in the penalty kick shootout session, courtesy of Aaron Prim, Graczyk, Tyler Doucett and Jenkins.
