Sunday letters: College’s board selected the best

April 27, 2014

— Raymond O. Singleton’s April 9 letter (“McConnell’s hiring was no surprise”) refers to the choice of a new president at the College of Charleston as “a travesty of sleaziness.”

I see a board that voted to bring in a College of Charleston graduate, a lieutenant governor of a state we love and a proven leader.

Give Glenn McConnell a little while, and you will see the tremendous things accomplish as leader of the College of Charleston. He’s the smartest individual I have ever met.

As for his love of Confederate history, can’t a person have a hobby or subject he loves without being called names?

Congratulations to a wise board for selecting the best.
