Monday letters: Don’t privatize city’s parking

— I certainly hope the idea of privatizing parking in Columbia is vetted carefully before steps are taken. Five years ago, Chicago made a disastrous deal, and the cities of Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and New York all have examined and subsequently concluded that such schemes are not in the public interest.

If these cities with their big-budget development capabilities have come to such conclusions, why in the world would our mayor be suggesting this?
