DF girls take 5-4A high ground

May 2, 2014

Surging Dutch Fork made it official in Region 5-4A girls soccer on Thursday with a 2-1 triumph over Lexington. The title-clinching decision was the 12th win in a row for the Silver Foxes, who improved to 16-2 overall, 8-1 in region play.

DF is assured of the region’s top state playoff seed, but needs a win over North Augusta on May 6 (or a Lexington loss to White Knoll) to secure an outright region title.

Sophomore Emily Jermstad scored both goals as the Silver Foxes completed a region sweep of the Wildcats.

Lexington fell to 11-5, 7-2 but will be the region’s No. 2 playoff seed, no matter the outcome of its region finale against White Knoll on May 6. Tiara Evans scored for the Wildcats in the showdown match.
