WLTX-19 meterologist Jim Gandy is heading to the White House.

Gandy and other TV weather specialists are attending the White House’s third annual National Climate Assessment on Tuesday.

As part of the visit, Gandy will interview President Obama and attending briefings from administration officials and scientists.

Gandy, the chief meteorologist at WLTX since 1999, was recognized in part because of his Climate Matters segments that have aired for the last four years.

And he’s the weatherman who was very close in his predictions regarding the approach of Hurricane Hugo in 1989 to the South Carolina coast.

The National Climate Assessment is an effort to harness scientific power to the issues surrounding climate change, an issue that divides people politically.
