— Columbia Police are trying to identify two suspects accused of robbing a couple as they walked home last month.

Police say the couple was approached by the two suspects in the 2300 block of Lee Street around 12:30 a.m. April 24 who demanded the couple’s belongings.

The couple told police at least one of the suspects pointed a gun at them.

The male victim handed the suspects cash and a cellphone, but the female reportedly refused to give up her valuables, specifically her phone, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Police say that is when one of the men allegedly fired a shot into the ground, near the victims, before running away.

Police believe the suspects left the area later in a black car, which was caputured in a surveillance image.

The victims were not injured, according to police.
