— The S.C. Senate Ethics Committee has scheduled a hearing in the matter of ex-Sen. Robert Ford, the Charleston Democrat who resigned last year amid accusations that he used his campaign account to buy items from a sex shop and pay personal expenses.

The hearing will be held at 9 a.m. on May 14 in Room 308 of the Gressette Building on the State House grounds.

Ford resigned in May amid a two-day Senate Ethics hearing. SLED has been investigating the case.

In January, the Senate Ethics Committee came out with a new complaint against Ford accusing him of continuing to spend campaign money and misreport expenses after he left the Senate.
