Thursday morning fire in Irmo destroys detached garage, vehicle

— A late Thursday morning fire in Irmo destroyed a detached garage and a vehicle, according to the Columbia Fire Department.

The fire happened around 11 a.m. in the 1000 block of Amick Road, which is near Dutch Fork Road, in Irmo.

The detached garage fire caused major damage to one vehicle and minor damage to one recreational vehicle, Columbia Fire Department Spokesman Brick Lewis said.

No injuries have been reported, according to Lewis.

Lewis said The Columbia Fire Department, Irmo Fire District and Richland County EMS were on the scene, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department was controlling traffic.
