Chapin town clerk Adrienne Thompson remains suspended with pay until an investigation into alleged financial irregularities is finished, town spokeswoman Karen Owens said.

Her suspension is back in place, after a court ruling Wednesday voided a series of Town Council decisions that included repeal of the decision initially made April 25 by Mayor Skip Wilson.

Town leaders are asking the State Law Enforcement Division to review the allegations.

Thompson and some council members deny any problem, saying Wilson is taking issue with spending practices authorized by town leaders in an effort to force her out of the post she’s held for 13 years.
