Gov. Nikki Haley traveled to the Dallas area last week where she participated in the groundbreaking of a 7-foot bronze statue of Indian nationalist Mahatma Gandhi, according to news reports.
The trip was not included in the weekly roundup of Haleys activities issued by her office.
Haley did not use the state plane, according to online records. The statue was paid for by a pair of Indian-American groups in North Texas. Haley, whose parents immigrated to the United States from India, attended a campaign fundraiser at an Indian community center outside Houston last fall.
