Lt. Governor candidate issues

May 10, 2014

The S.C. lieutenant governor is a part-time position that oversees the state Office on Aging and presides over the state Senate. The candidates also say they have other priorities if elected:

Mike Campbell: Working on better support for Alzheimer’s patients and their caretakers (Campbell’s father, former Republican Gov. Carroll Campbell, died after suffering from the disease); aiding in economic development efforts with an emphasis on small business; protecting natural resources

Pat McKinney: Working with Gov. Nikki Haley, who also must win re-election in November; aiding in economic development efforts with an emphasis on small business; using his business experience to improve the Office on Aging

Henry McMaster: Working on ethics reform; aiding in economic development efforts with an emphasis on small business; creating a special unit to prosecute crimes against seniors

Ray Moore: Involving churches and faith-based groups in care for the elderly; privatizing schools; using gold and silver standard for U.S. currency
