CAROLINA RIVER CONNECTION: Basic canoe, sea/rec and whitewater kayak instruction and rentals. Five guided trips for all levels of paddlers, including half-day, full-day and overnight trips. Meals are provided, and ages 8 and under paddle for free. Paddle the Saluda, Congaree, Edisto and Enoree Rivers. (803) 917-3920.

CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK: Volunteers are needed for two free butterfly count events. The first is an optional Butterfly Identification Training, 9:30-11:30 a.m. June 14. The Annual NABA Butterfly Count is 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 21 (weather permitting). All ages and experience levels are welcome. Advance reservations are required. Call (803) 776-4396. LAKE MURRAY ASSOCIATION: Ladies Day on the Lake, June 17 at the Lighthouse Marina, 1925 Johnson Marina Road, Chapin. Women will learn about boating safety and trailer backing. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Cost is $35. (803) 331-8355; lakemurrayassociation.org

SALUDA SHOALS PARK: The Saluda Shoals Foundation, Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission and Trustus Theatre present “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” 7:30 p.m. May 22-24 at the Environmental Education Center Outdoor Deck, 5605 Bush River Road.
