— One man was shot to death and a woman wounded in a shooting that took place around 1 a.m. Sunday at a north Columbia home, city police said Sunday.

Police are now looking for a suspect or suspects in the case.

Neither gunshot victim resided at the house in the 1500 block of Cody Street, just off North Main Street and about a mile northeast of Columbia College, according to a press release authorized by Chief William “Skip” Holbrook.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the wounded woman was taken to a local hospital with injuries that hospital staff told police do not appear to be life-threatening.

Richland County coroner Gary Watts is expected to identify the deceased man later.

Holbrook is asking residents with information about this shooting to contact Crimestoppers to make an anonymous top.
