Clemson continues to work Florida defensive end

May 11, 2014

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables spoke with DE Tevon Coney of Palm Beach Gardens, FL recently as they continue to get to know one another. Coney has yet to take a visit but said that a future visit to Clemson is definite.

"I'm still getting to know coach Venables and he seems like a really nice guy," Coney said. "We talked for about 30 minutes a few days ago and I got to hear what his defensive philosophy is. Obviously, I want to get up there and meet him in person but I'm not sure when I'm going to make that trip."

Coney's high school team began spring practice this month allowing him to play host to several coaches. "I can't even remember all of the coaches that have been by to see me but there has been a lot," he said.

The South Florida product is still unsure of when he will begin taking visits but has named Clemson, Tennessee, Ohio State, Florida and NC State as schools he would like to visit. All have offered except for the Buckeyes.

Kentucky, Miami, South Alabama, Appalachian State, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Florida International and Western Michigan have also offered.

Coney does not have any favorites.
