701 CCA’s annual garage sale starts with a bang

May 14, 2014

It’s the fanciest garage sale you’ve ever seen.

701 Center for Contemporary Art (701 CCA), a downtown Columbia art center, hosts its Great Garage Sale on Wednesday, May 14, through Saturday, May 17.

But rather than a mad dash down a driveway to call dibs on someone else’s junk, this garage sale promises to be much more dignified.

It begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a cocktail hour, including appetizers from The Gourmet Shop and Silver Spoon, and beer and wine donated by Morganelli’s.

The opening party also includes a silent auction from 6-8 p.m. before the evening ends at 9 p.m.

The treasures to be found include donated works of art, books and vintage items.

The sale continues Thursday and Friday from noon until 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. At 11:45 a.m. Saturday, shoppers can buy a $5 “all-you-can-carry” bag to collect last-minute gems. All proceeds benefit programs at the art studio.

701 CCA is located at 701 Whaley St. in Olympia.
