Gator booters play again tonight

May 14, 2014

River Bluff’s second-round match with Greenville at The Swamp in the Class 3A state boys soccer playoffs has been moved up one day because of the threat of stormy weather on Thursday.

The fourth-ranked Gators (20-3) square off against the Generals at 7:30 p.m. River Bluff became the first rookie team in 3A to win its state playoff debut on Tuesday, downing Clinton 9-0. The winning margin matched the all-time blowout recorded by a first-year school in its first postseason outing.

Also of note, the win allowed Phil Savitz to remain unbeaten in first round games since his first season as a head coach at Irmo in 1981.
