Thursday letters: Senators neither fair nor bright

May 15, 2014

SC State House

— It’s amazing and amusing, is it not? The rightwing, revisionist tea partiers who push for less government are the same ones who want to dictate what is and is not appropriate for college classrooms.

Sens. Mike Fair and Lee Bright are great examples. They and others lodged a protest vote against USC trustees running unopposed to force cancellation of a satirical play scheduled for performance at USC Upstate because they considered sexual content objectionable.

For those of us who think college students are capable of discerning their own values and making their own judgments, these senators are neither fair nor bright.
