Master Gardener Training Course: The Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service of Aiken and Lexington counties is accepting applications for the 2014 Clemson Extension Master Gardener Program. The course begins July 8 and meets 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays through mid-November at the Aiken County Clemson Extension Office, 1555 Richland Ave. East, Aiken. Application deadline is June 16. Newberry Spring Garden and Art Tour: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 31. Explore five private gardens and Wells Japanese Garden. Each area will feature an exhibit by a local artist. Tickets are $15. Taking Root: The Summer Brothers and the History of the Pomaria Nursery: On display June 12-September 20 at the University of South Carolina McKissick Museum, 816 Bull St. (on the Horseshoe). An opening reception will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. June 18. The exhibit profiles the history of Pomaria Nursery, which thrived in central South Carolina from the 1840s-1870s.
