CAROLINA RIVER CONNECTION: Basic canoe, sea/rec and whitewater kayak instruction and rentals. Five guided trips for all levels of paddlers, including half-day, full-day and overnight trips. CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK: Volunteers are needed for two free butterfly count events. The first is an optional Butterfly Identification Training, 9:30-11:30 a.m. June 14. SESQUICENTENNIAL STATE PARK: Guided trail run, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, 9564 Two Notch Road. The 3.5-mile run with a ranger will teach participants about the trail system. Free with park admission. Register by Monday by emailing sesqui@scprt.com. Participants should meet at the Mountain Bike Trailhead and are encouraged to bring water. Adults must accompany children 15 and younger. U.S. COAST GUARD AUXILIARY BOATING SAFETY CLASS: “About Boating Safety,” 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. June 21 at Flotilla Island, 2390 Johnson Marina Road, Chapin. The course is certified by SC DNR; successful graduates will be awarded the South Carolina Boater Education Card. Students younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Fee is $30 per person.
