— A man was gunned down and killed early Sunday morning at a Richland County apartment complex.

“When they arrived on scene, they found a male subject, unresponsive, he had been shot,” said Richland County Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Cowen.

The body was outside one of the apartments. The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6 a.m. Cowan said it was homicide.

Investigators, a crime scene unit and the county coroner’s office are on the scene.

Coroner Gary Watts said he might be able to provide an identity later today.

The apartment complex at 1234 Universal Drive where the man was slain is located about two miles east of I-77 and between Leesburg and Garners Ferry roads.
