COLUMBIA, SC — Columbia has lifted a boil water advisory issued earlier this week for a northeast neighborhood.
City officials said customers of Benedict Street, between Christian and Gabriel streets and Christian Street, between Benedict and Luke streets no longer need to boil their water prior to drinking or cooking.
Following an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples collected indicate the system is safe for drinking and cooking purposes, according to a City of Columbia Water Works press release.
A six-inch water main break led the City of Columbia to issue the advisory.
