Thursday letters: New facilities a waste of money

June 4, 2014

.

— Thanks to Tim Flach for informing us about how Richland County Council plans to spend $66 million on a water park, amphitheater, baseball and softball complex and other facilities.

Kudos to Councilman Jim Manning for asking that more be known about the cost of running these facilities. The more important question is why we are even thinking of spending this money when there are people who can't afford the price to get into these facilities once they are built. Richland County Council needs to examine its priorities and quit trying to find ways to spend money.

Why not give it to the bus system and cut the penny tax that was voted in?
