The May 24 editorial endorsing Lindsey Graham and explaining the process of governing was spot on. It was nice to see the subject articulated in a way that wasn't obscured by either the far right or far left.

Most of us have moderate leanings and vote for people who represent what is best for our state and country. It matters that the Port of Charleston is modernized and that all of our citizens have access to good jobs so that they can support their families. It matters that our military is strong enough to defend our country and our way of life. It matters that our citizens have some sort of access to reasonable health care. The debate is how.

We have 300 million people represented by 535 duly elected politicians charged with that task. Lindsey Graham understands that, and he has stood up to the extremists on both the right and left in the pursuit of that common goal. We need to show up Tuesday and send him back to Washington so that he can continue to be the voice of reason in the pursuit of constructive governing for our state and country.
