Sneak peek of ‘Evil Dead: The Musical’

Among the many events planned around First Thursday on Main is a sneak peek at Trustus’ upcoming production of “Evil Dead: The Musical” at 6:45 p.m. at Tapp’s Art Center. The monthly arts crawl is from 6 to 10 p.m. along businesses on Main Street between Columbia City Hall and the State House. Details: firsthursdaysonmain.com

Southern Guitar Festival And Competition

The festival will open at 7 p.m. Friday with a performance by Armenian guitarist Gohar Vardanyan; followed by Southern Guitar Festival faculty — double bass virtuoso Craig Butterfield, Teri Forscher-Milter (flute), Sloan’s Duo (Mandy Sloan on saxophone and Steve Sloan on guitar) and Marina Alexandra. The festival continues Saturday with a 7 p.m. concert by Ivan Resendiz and Siulviu Ciulei. Tickets for each concert are $20; students, $15. ‘Dinosaurs: Land Of Fire And Ice’

Saturday through Sept. 14 at EdVenture Children’s Museum, 211 Gervais St. Exhibit utilizes new research to create distinct dinosaur environments. In the “Land of Fire,” visitors experience the home of the Triceratops and T-Rex. Museum hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
