Tuesday night DB Maurice Smitherman said Clemson was one of his two finalists along with Mississippi State. Smitherman said that while his family wanted him to play in the SEC, he had not qualms about going to the ACC.

24 hours later, Smitherman has changed course. He said on Twitter he now has a top four of Mississippi State, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. He plans to camp at all four this summer.

And Clemson is now out of the running.

"Can't no conference compete with the SEC we produce top defensive players," Smitherman tweeted.

Smitherman had planned to announce a decision next week but apparently will hold off a little longer.
