The Columbia Marathon began at 7:15 Saturday in the Vista. The swift and the determined endured 26.2 miles. Supporters dotted the course to cheer on the runners. Finishers earned medals for their tremendous effort, along with the title of marathoner.

Pink on the Green Celebrity Golf Tournament: Monday at The Woodlands Golf and Country Club, 100 Norse Way. Format is four-man captain’s choice. Registration/check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with tee time at 10 a.m. (shotgun start). Cost is $250 per person (registration gifts include two round-trip airline tickets and a three day/two night vacation package to Las Vegas). Maxcy Gregg Swimming Pool: The Maxcy Gregg Swimming Pool, 1651 Park Circle, has opened for the summer. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays, 2-6 p.m. Sundays and 1-7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.
