Columbia, SC — Now that Lillian Koller has stepped down as director of the state Department of Social Services, I hope Sen. Vincent Sheheen and the others have a realistic plan for reforming DSS. The only thing that would make this situation worse than it already would be to realize that the protests and investigations were nothing more than political posturing for the upcoming election.
The time for talk is over. Let’s see who cares about the children in South Carolina. Let’s see who can improve education so the children in foster care can have a better future. Let’s see who can improve foster care, child protective services and child welfare overall, so South Carolina can have a better future.
