— Columbia Fire crews responded to a fire at a mobile home early Wednesday morning.

A citizen stopped by the Fire Department around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning to report a fire at 1125 Congaree Road, which is off Garners Ferry Road, according to Assistant Chief James Helms.

Fire crews found a mobile home that was about 50 percent involved, Helms said.

The fire was under control around 7 a.m., according to Helms.

“No one was home at the time of the fire,” Helms said. “One firefighter, who reported a minor injury, was treated at the scene.”

About 26 firefighters were on the scene, Helms said.

Helms said damage estimates are around $40,000.

The fire is under investigation by Richland County Emergency Services Department.
