Ivy Garden Subdivision customers no longer need to boil water

— The City of Columbia Water Works has lifted the boil water advisory issued Monday for customers on Ivy Garden Lane and Trellis Lane, which is located in the Ivy Green Subdivision. The subdivision is slightly north of Irmo.

Customers no longer need to boil their water for one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

Following an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples indicate that the system is safe to use for drinking and cooking purposes, according to the City of Columbia Water Works

The City of Columbia experienced an eight-inch water main break, which could have resulted in the bacterial contamination of the water.
