Lexington recognizes Medal of Honor Recipient, declares Kyle Carpenter Day

LEXINGTON TOWN COUNCIL

— Lexington Town Council recognized Lance Cpl. Kyle Carpenter, Medal of Honor Recipient, during their June Council meeting and proclaimed Thursday, June 19, 2014 as Kyle Carpenter Day.

Lexington resident Lance Cpl. Carpenter is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who was wounded in combat in 2010 during Operation Enduring Freedom, according to a Town of Lexington release.

Carpenter is set to receive a Medal of Honor, which is the highest military honor, from President Obama at the White House Thursday.

Carpenter has also received the Purple Heart and Navy Achievement Medal, according to the release.

Mayor Steve MacDougall and Town Council are asking local businesses to change their business marquee and declare Thursday, June 19, 2014, as Kyle Carpenter Day.
