— Richland County authorities say they will charge a Chapin man with criminal domestic violence, attempted murder and possession of marijuana once he is released from the hospital.

Rishi Dutt, 36, is accused of assaulting his infant son and the boy’s mother on Tuesday. The child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body after Richland County deputies were called to the home at 12 Pickard Court in Chapin, Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Curtis Wilson said. Deputies found the father assaulting the six-month-old boy.

Dutt allegedly resisted the deputies’ efforts to subdue him and was shot with a Taser, Wilson said. Both father and son were taken to the hospital.

Wilson said once Dutt is released from the hospital, he will be taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and formally charged.
