— Richland County authorities are questioning a woman who allegedly shot her husband Thursday afternoon in front of her two teen children.

Authorities responded to a call of shots fired around 5:30pm at in the parking lot of the Sprint Store at 10266 Two Notch Road, Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Curtis Wilson said. It appears that what began as a verbal altercation between a husband and wife escalated and ended with the wife allegedly shooting her husband in the upper body outside their parked car. The husband has been taken to a local hospital but his condition is unknown, Wilson said.

The couple’s teenaged son and daughter were in the car at the time of the shooting, Wilson said.

The shooting forced the Sprint Store to close early. Store employees declined to comment, but posted a sign on the front door that said they were forced to close because of unforeseen circumstances.

Authorities are still trying to unravel what happened.
