Verbal argument results in multiple gun shots, female victim is shot once in lower body

— A 26-year-old female victim is recovering from a gunshot wound she sustained after a verbal argument with 35-year-old male suspect in northeast Richland County.

The shooting happened at 2 a.m. Friday morning at 322 Oak Creek Circle, near the intersection of North Brickyard Road and Hard Scrabble Road, when a verbal argument became physical between the male suspect and his girlfriend. The suspect pushed the female to the ground and began to leave in a silver two-door Cadillac.

As the female victim approached the passenger-side window, the male suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots resulting in the victim sustaining a single gunshot wound to the lower body. The suspect then fled the area.

Sgt. Curtis Wilson said that Richland County Sheriff’s Department is still looking for the suspect.
