Jessica T. Cummins has been promoted to chief financial officer of Security Federal Bank and Security Federal Corp.


Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has recognized Midlands Technical College president Marshall “Sonny” White Jr. with a Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Award. The society also recognized MTC’s Kitty Spires with the Distinguished Advisor Award.


Jacqueline M. “Jax” Pavlicek has joined Callison Tighe & Robinson in Columbia as an associate.

Matthew G. Gerrald, an attorney with Barnes Alford in Columbia, has been invited to join the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.

Brandon S. Smith, an attorney with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in Columbia, received the Award of Achievement for Outstanding Service to the Bar from the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia.

Gallivan, White & Boyd, which has an office in Columbia, has been included in the 2014 edition of “Chambers USA, Leading Lawyers for Business” as a leading law firm in commercial litigation. In addition, attorneys Daniel B. White, Gray T. Culbreath and John T. Lay Jr. have been named leading business attorneys in the field of commercial litigation.
