Charleston coach being investigated for verbal abuse

July 2, 2014

Doug Wojcik, the men's basketball coach at College of Charleston for two seasons, is being investigated because of allegations of verbal abuse against his players, according to CBSSports.com

He could be placed on probation by the school, a source told the website.

Marlene Navor, director of athletics communications at Charleston, told CBSSports.com on Tuesday that the school has no comment.

Wojcik, 50, coached at Tulsa for seven years.

He did not immediately return a message left late Tuesday by CBSSports.com.

A Charleston TV station reported Tuesday that the investigation is focused on Wojcik's day-to-day treatment of his players, some of whom met with school officials last week. The Charleston Post and Courier reported Wojcik is expected to undergo weeks of counseling.
